Happy birthday to Portia de Rossi and her Arrested Develop co-star Jessica Walter! Also ringing in their births today are actresses Minnie Driver, Kerry Washington and Carol Channing.

All hail Adepero Oduye! The Pariah star is on the cover of Vanity Fair (although you have to unfold the cover like a centerfold to see her). The magazine’s March Hollywood issue introduces "11 fresh and young stars of 2012" including Rooney Mara (who doesn’t look very happy), Jennifer Lawrence, Paula Patton (with a Princess Leia updo) and Albert Nobbs’ Mia Wasikowska.
Speaking of Rooney, the GWTDT star has taken over the lead role in Steven Soderbergh‘s new film Side Effects. Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively was originally cast in the thriller, but now Rooney will play a "troubled and depressed woman who is coping with the imminent release of her husband from jail and begins to take a new prescription drug, an act that causes unforeseen consequences." ( Dear Rooney, your movie roles are starting to worry me. What if you star in a buddy comedy with Michelle “Mitchie Likes Sausage” Rodriguez instead? Love, Bridget)
Cynthia Nixon won’t stop talking. The Tony and Emmy award-winning actress is once again attempting to clarify her controversial comments on sexuality by issuing the below statement to The Advocate.
My recent comments in The New York Times were about me and my personal story of being gay. I believe we all have different ways we came to the gay community and we can’t and shouldn’t be pigeonholed into one cultural narrative, which can be uninclusive and disempowering. However, to the extent that anyone wishes to interpret my words in a strictly legal context I would like to clarify: "While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship." As I said in the Times and will say again here, I do, however, believe that most members of our community — as well as the majority of heterosexuals — cannot and do not choose the gender of the persons with whom they seek to have intimate relationships because, unlike me, they are only attracted to one sex. "Our community is not a monolith, thank goodness, any more than America itself is. I look forward to and will continue to work toward the day when America recognizes all of us as full and equal citizens.
Thoughts? Personally, I’m experiencing Cynthia Nixon fatigue. Where are Samantha and Charlotte when you need them?
In case you’re not already aware, Madonna has returned! (Where did she go?) The Material Girl will have millions of eyes on her during Sunday’s Super Bowl 46 halftime show but beforehand place your eyes below on her album cover art for MDNA.
If you live in Los Angeles, check out the LACMA exhibit "In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States"
featuring the work of Frida Kahlo. The exhibit opened on Sunday and runs until March 6. (The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is located at 5905 Wilshire Blvd.)
A scantily clad Blue Nyle chokes herself in her new NSFW music video for "Alter Ego." Enjoy!
One of my guilty pleasures is watching the racy and often offensive HBO series Eastbound & Down. (Don’t judge me.) The Season 3 trailer features two female club goers making out at the 32-second mark before the show’s star Kenny Powers abruptly shoves their kissing faces apart to make a dramatic appearance. Warning: NSFW!
Tomorrow night the brilliant and hysterical Judy Gold will take over the Gotham Comedy Club (208 West 23rd St. NY, NY) for the Homo Comicus LGBT comedy showcase. The 8:30 pm show also features lesbian comedian Dana Goldberg and a slew of other queer comics.
Lesbian/Bi Video of the Day!
If you read last week’s bald beauties AfterEllen.com huddle post then you know I’m an admirer of bisexual model/actress/singer/self-proclaimed fashionista Amber Rose. Check out Rose’s interview with NewNowNext below in which she discusses “playing a butch lesbian bounty hunter” and her love of high-waisted jeans.
