Afternoon Delight: A “Pariah” star is honored by “The Hollywood Reporter,” Mila Kunis poses in pink for “GQ”

Good afternoon!

Happy birthday to out actress Cherry Jones and Icelandic singer Bjork. And happy belated birthday to Chloe Sevigny (If These Walls Could Talk 2) and Allison Janney (The Hours).

The trailer for Madonna’s film W. E. has arrived. The Material Girl co-wrote the screenplay and directed actress Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch) in the romantic drama about a king and his love affair with an American divorcee. Take a look at the trailer below and let me know your thoughts. W.E. hits theaters February 3, 2012.

Speaking of singers/actresses-turned-directors, Scarlett Johansson will be making her directorial debut with an adaptation of Truman Capote’s novel Summer Crossing. The story follows a 17-year-old debutante who falls in love with a parking attendant. It’s like West Side Story without the stabbings, the award-winning music numbers and Rita Moreno. Actually, Summer Crossing is nothing like West Side Story but the West Side Story: 50th Anniversary Edition is available on Blu-ray.

Black Swan actress Mila Kunis graces the cover of December’s GQ. Is it just me or does Kunis not look happy? Maybe she’s upset someone took her shirt away. But, as we all know, nothing says “Happy Holidays” like a pink bikini.

Jane Lynch is hawking her memoir Happy Accidents in a commercial for Barnes & Noble’s Nook tablet. Why is Lynch so adorable?

In this commercial, Lynch promises us all free “Nook support.” (The perfect gift for the woman who has everything …)

Tomorrow night, out rocker Abisha Uhl and her all-female band Sick of Sarah will be performing live at The Beat Kitchen in Chicago. And on Tuesday, December 13, SOS will be taking the stage at the Roxy in Los Angeles, CA. (9009 W. Sunset Blvd.)

Pariah star Adepero Oduye was featured on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Next Gen 2011 list, celebrating the rising stars in entertainment. Check out Oduye’s interview on the red carpet at the event.

Which brings us to….

Lesbian/Bi Photo of the Day:

Out director Dee Rees (far right) posed with the cast of her award winning film Pariah at the 2011 Variety Los Angeles Screening Series. I’m crossing my fingers that the film’s stars Oduye, Aasha Davis (South of Nowhere) and Kim Wayans will be recognized at the 2012 Academy Awards.
