Afternoon Delight: A lesbian gets the boot from Dollywood, Olivia Wilde is a “slightly less replaceable” nerd

Happy birthday to Run Lola Run’s Franka Potente. Potente nabbed my vote for this year’s Hot 100 list. And although 37-year old actress is not queer, one can dream.

The Kids Are All Right’s Annette Bening has signed on to play Kristen Wiig‘s mother in the dark comedy Imogene. My prayers have been answered! Bening will play a gambling addict who has to take care of Wiig after her fake suicide attempt fails. (The faux suicide attempt is intended to lure Wiig’s ex-boyfriend back into a relationship. That is one whack plan!)

The Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne announced that she’s taking a break for the show to spend more time with her rocker husband and pigeon abuser Ozzy Osbourne. Osbourne insists it’s just a short hiatus but, in the mean time, I’d like out singer Sia to fill her seat on the all-female panel.

An employee at Dollywood’s Splash Country asked lesbian visitor Olivier Odom to turn her Human Rights Campaign T-shirt inside out before entering the theme park. Odom arrived at the Tennessee park with partner, Jennifer Tipton, and, although there is no official dress code, the gatekeeper wouldn’t allow Odom to enter until she adjusted her “Marriage is so gay” shirt. I wonder what the gatekeeper would say about my “I f–king love –p–sy!” tracksuit?

Odom said, "I was in disbelief. I didn’t think it was the policy of Dollywood to discriminate against the LGBT community.” Odom noticed other park patrons wearing confederate flag T-shirts and other questionable attire." With the help of the Campaign for Southern Equality, Odom wrote a letter and is taking action against this discrimination. In it, she wrote, "To ensure that your customers are not treated this way in the future, I would like to see Dollywood: implement policies that are inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people; conduct staff sensitivity training; and issue a public statement indicating that the park is inclusive of all families."
The legendary owner of Dollywood, Dolly Parton, has always been an LGBT supporter so I’m sure she’ll speak out about this incident.

HGTV’s Design Star has its first ever out gay female contestant! SheWired.com reports that Leslie Ezelle is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and a mother of four. Check out their exclusive interview with the stunning designer.

Out mixed martial arts fighter Liz Carmouche will go three rounds with former champion Sarah Kaufman tonight at the Strikeforce Challengers event in Las Vegas. Her coach, Manny Hernandez, says Carmouche is fierce. “She’s f–king amazing. She’s fighting guys who have two or three times her experience, and doing well.” Impressive. And terrifying! Watch the match on Showtime tonight.

I miss Battlestar Galactica. Mainly, because I miss watching actress Katee Sackhoff punch people in the face while wearing a sweaty tank top, a look most people can’t pull off. Sackhoff lends her voice to the Cartoon Network’s animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a pistol-packing Mandalorian warrior. Check out the video that debuted at Comic-Con this week. (Sackhoff’s character drops in at the 58-second mark.)

In an interview with The New York Times, the amazing Olivia Wilde (House) discusses the body-obsessed entertainment industry and refers to herself as a “world-class nerd.” Nerds in my high school didn’t look like her.

Wilde said, "Trying to fight this industry’s tendency to celebrate the physical is a waste of time. So I’m happy to play that game. But I am also thirsty for input. I’m not a dunce whose only skill is knowing how to take a photograph, you know? And at the end of the day I think it makes me slightly less replaceable." Oh, Olivia, you’re irreplaceable to me.

Apparently Jodie Foster has made it her mission to work with every controversial person in Hollywood. Foster has teamed up with director Roman Polanski for the film Carnage, based on Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning play God of Carnage. Carnage focuses on two sets of parents who meet after their children are involved in a fight at school. (One more reason not to have children.) Foster shares the screen with John C. Reilly, Christoph Waltz, and Kate Winslet. Carnage is set to hit theaters in the US on November 18.

Do you miss Dollhouse? Well don’t fret! Actress Eliza Dushku wants you to join her in the interactive Torchwood series on iTunes. Dushku voices Holly, "a young woman intent on finding out what has happened to her brother and the world."

Pretty Little Liars fans should check out this behind the scenes video of the fashion show segment from the most recent episode, featuring the Liars and costume designer Mandi Line (Advanced P.E.).
