1.) What video is currently embedded on your profile and why?
I have a video of Penelope Cruz singing “Volver” from the movie of the same name by Pedro Almodovar. I just watched the movie in my Spanish class, and my professor reminds me of Raimunda; ironically I have a grande crush on them both. Being from an Argentinean background I love any Latina lady and the song is so emotional and beautiful.
2.) When and where have you met a celebrity?
In Las Vegas, at the tender age of 9, I was seeing Cirque du Soleil with my family. At that point I was totally (as like all other pre-pubescent gals) obsessed with ‘N Sync. In the audience was Joey Fatone, and all the other females were going crazy. The ballsy little kid I was, I walk straight up to him and ask him for a picture. The a**hole he was, said “No.”
Better story, I went to an Obama rally in Newark and using my lesbian-competative-sports-skills, I pushed everyone out of my way and got to shake his hand, calling him “Mr. President.” (this was back before the primary, mind you.) He thought it was cute. Let me just say, our president has supple hands.
3.) What cd is in heavy rotation for you right now?
Right now, I cannot seem to stop listening to Adele‘s 19. She is a musical genius and her love songs don’t make me insanely angry with the music industry’s lack of originality, or my lack of a girlfriend…so that’s something. Usually I’ve got a new artist and some oldie-but-goodies alternating. So I’ve been switching Adele off and on with Tegan and Sara‘s The Con, anything by The Weepies or Deb Talan, Missy Higgins‘ new CD, Dave Matthews Band’s Live at the Gorge, and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
6) If we hacked into your DVR, what would we find?
Although I am a poor college student and don’t own a DVR, if I did own such technology, I’d have the DVR of a 15-year old boy. You would find (and laugh at) Futurama, South Park, Spongebob Squarepants, and I guess some normal stuff like The Office, Law and Order: SVU marathons, Top Chef, and The L Word (but only seasons 1-3, after Shane left Carmen I couldn’t bring myself to watch Ilene Chaiken self-destruct).
7) What song are you currently singing in the shower?
For some reason, while shampooing, my Jersey Pride grows exponentially to heights unknown. I rotate between Bon Jovi’s “It’s my life,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” and all the songs from the Garden State soundtrack. Otherwise, I’ve been singing “You Learn” by Alanis Morissette because I just got “you live. you learn.” tattooed on my back and so when I’m in the buff…you know.
