A Gay Girl’s Guide to Fall TV: September

You Should Skip…

Pan Am (ABC, Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10/9c)

Despite the great premise, the show just couldn’t hold my interest. Perhaps it’s because all of the women who work on Pan Am are defined largely by their relationships with the men all around them. This show had more sexism than The Playboy Club.

Charlie’s Angels (ABC, Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c)

While Prime Suspect was an, ahem, prime example of how to do a remake, this reboot reminded me that the real Angels stayed in the ’70s where they belonged.

Hart of Dixie (CW, Monday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c)

Rachel Bilson is a big city girl in a small town, which we’ve all seen before. This is the show Scott Porter left The Good Wife for?

Whitney (NBC, Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9:30/8:30c)

Whitney Cummings stars in her own show, which immediately suffers the same pitfalls that other failed he said/she said sitcoms have for years and years. Roseanne did it so much better.

Free Agents (NBC, Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10:30/9:30c)

Kathryn Hahn and Frank Azaria work together and end up sleeping together. How long can this show go on?

Suburgatory (ABC, Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 8:30/7:30c)

This family comedy just can’t compare to the likes of Modern Family.

Check back at the end of this month to find out what’s hot (and not) for October.
