ABC Renews "Better Off Ted," Banishes "Cupid"
Despite low ratings, ABC has officially renewed midseason entry Better Off Ted, the workplace comedy starring out actress Portia de Rossi, Jay Harrington, Andrea Anders, Jonathan Slavin, and Malcolm Barrett. Good critical buzz — as well as passionate fan support demonstrated via the internet, Twitter, and other social media outlets — is widely believed to be behind the network's decision to pick up a second season of the series (the first season only contained six episodes).
De Rossi's openly gay co-star Jonathan Slavin told E! Online earlier this month that the show had five additional episodes already completed, and that these episodes reveal a lot more about Veronica's life, adding, "There's another side to her that you find out." The fate of another ABC mid-season series, the matchmaking drama Cupid starring out actress Sarah Paulson, is not as happy — ABC has reportedly opted not to renew it for a second season. The drama by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas — which stars Paulson as the therapist (and love interest) of the mythical god of love, played by Bobby Cannavale — has struggled to find success with TV audiences or critics. Sarah Paulson as Dr. Claire Allen in Cupid Paulson previously starred in NBC's series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Her partner Cherry Jones currently stars as the President of the United States on the Fox series 24, and will be reprising her role again next season. ABC will officially announce all renewals and cancellations (and unveil its new series) this Tuesday at the ABC Upfront presentation to advertisers. |

yayy, I've only watched one
yayy, for BoT (although I've only watched one episode so far because of exams and vlogs and Bones but it was funny. ) Portia's pout in that photo weirds me out a bit though. she's awesome and funny in the role but wayyy less likable to in real life like we saw on Ellen, where she's adorable so warm, such a contrast.(but her character is supposed to be cold I know)
Sarah this isn't about this post specifically but all of them and I figure you're more likely to see my post on a new article. I was wondering about ads. Does this site choose what ads are at the top of the page. Recently I keep getting the smiley one, you know the one where you're watching a vlog and all of a sudden you hear this 'heeloooo-ooooo?!' I'm actually pretty surprised that it still makes me laugh and think of my brother (random) despite hearing it all over the net over the years but after it does it a few times in a row its very annoying esp. if you're watching a vlog and I keep having to refresh the page until I get a silent ad. I don't know how ads work, if they're specific to the site or if its something to do with me but I'd just like your thoughts/response on the ads Sarah (or somebody) if poss. thanks :)

Not Cupid!
I am highly upset that Cupid will probably not get a second season. I loved the show... yes it was on a bit late for me, but I would always catch up online. It was a show that NEVER had a sad ending and I needed that every week... the happiness, etc. So sad to see the show go :o(

I have not had a chance to check out Cupid but I love Rob Thomas when he was doing Veronica Mars. At least he still has 90210 on the air...but I just can't get into that.

Another Rob Thomas show was renewed - Party Down with Jane Lynch, although it's doubtful if JL will come back for the second season, now that Glee has been picked up.
I never understood why ABC took another shot at Cupid; it failed miserably a decade ago with better cast, and it failed again this season.

I really love both shows, I will miss "CUPID" with Sarah Paulson, I love those lips of hers. Portia is beautiful and very good to look at. Don't worry Sarah I will be following you on Twitter! lol

i thought the finale was the best episode...it had a little more humanity than the previous ones. too much quirkiness and constant one liners gets really anoying.
it often does take time for a show to warm up.

Oh man, I really like BoT. After every episode I'm searching around on the net for it since I don't have ABC here. Yeah I know I can find it on abc.com, but it's for US residents only. Let the hunting begin heh.

So glad BOT is renewed! Didn't AE already share some scenes from the eps not yet aired, especially the one showing Veronica's "hobby", Magician's Assistant? If I recall (and it is seared into my brain), Veronica is standing on stage, clad in leather bustier, long blonde locks curling down to her waist, and one very very very long leg is flung over the shoulder of her magician. I guess even ABC is not so stupid as to leave THAT scene on the cutting room floor...
P.S. If any of the AE techies can find and re-post that scene on this thread, more power to you.

BOT and CUPID on HULU
I'm glad Cupid got canned! The original had its flaws, but it was exponentially more watchable with Paula Marshall. :::swoon::: And Jeremy Priven. Their onscreen chemistry was delicious. I love Rob Thomas, but this reboot should have been booted from the get go. The two leads had absolutely no chemistry. Far better had they made Cupid, a lesbian who fell for Sarah Paulson. Hell yes, I would watch that.

I only discovered BOT on HULU. Just five eps, but it got me hooked. LOVE IT. But every two minutes, my brain wonders why Ted is doing a spot-on imitation of George Clooney.
I'm a Sagittarius -- part ass, part dude with a loaded weapon. What's not to love? I'm pissed that Cupid got the falling in love arrow, we get the snarky, the-truth-is-gonna-hurt-arrow
