Vote for AfterEllen.com's "Best Lesbian Kiss" Award!

Logo just announced their nominees for the second annual NewNowNext Awards, including the AfterEllen.com "Best Lesbian Kiss" Award. Below is an explanation of each of the Best Kiss nominees — once you've read about them, vote in the poll at the bottom of the post.

Bette and Tina in the finale of The L Word
This kiss between Bette and Tina (any kiss between Bette and Tina) was one of the few bright spots of the series finale.

Dr. Callie Torres and Dr. Arizona Robbins on Grey's Anatomy
Arizona and Callie sneak a kiss on the job, in the stairwell of Seattle Grace.

Olivia and Natalia on Guiding Light
An exasperated Olivia finally kisses a clueless Natalia to show her what everyone else thinks is happening between the two friends.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi at the 2008 Daytime Emmys
Ellen shares a very public kiss with Portia when she wins the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host in June.

Emily and Naomi on Skins
In the concluding episode of their storyline this season, Naomi finally throws caution to the wind and kisses Emily at school, consequences be damned!

Barb and Christine on The New Adventures of Old Christine
Straight friends Barb and Christine pretend they're a couple as part of a ruse to keep Barb in the country.

    definitly the locker scene is the BEST.

    guys we have to remember the voting is for BEST KISS not best couple or true or something.... ok as i have said in my previous comments im a big fan of tibette and otalia even calzona.... but as much as i love them i have to be true and admit that naomily's kiss is way better.... others have posted the animation for those need convincing (its way better with sounds ;)  thank you guys....

    i dont intend to offend anyone ...just my opinion .... peace!!!

    Seriously. They are the cutest and most passionate couple since Willow and Tara. The only thing that could make that show better would have been Emily drop kicking Katie during the fight scene at the dance.

    That Otalia kiss was smokin', even though it was pretty one-sided at the time.

    I am a huge Otalia fan and I definitely voted for their kiss even though Natalia didn't really know what was going on yet then! I'm waiting for them to share a mutual, loving kiss together on the show!! I can hardly wait for today's show and I also hope we get to see them on their weekend away together at the spa resort...maybe it will happen there since they will be in the same room the whole time...talking about their feelings for each other and how they should handle things now and hopefully will show and tell each other how they truly feel about one another!!!

    It can only be the one and only tibette! The skins kiss is a close ish second! As much as I love Otalia their kiss involved Olivia demonstrating a point to Natalia so I don't really count it as a kiss because it was devoid of feeling!

    I believe the Otalia kiss was when Olivia and Natalia realized their feelings were much more than just friendship.  It took them a year to finally admit their love for each other, but oh what a year!  They are moving forward with their relationship and I am enjoying every second of it!

    I agree with everything you put as I also think that kiss was definitely when they realized they felt more than just friendship about each other! Yes it has taken them a year to admit their love but the way they've done it has been so touching, adorable, sweet, and hot! I can hardly wait until they're alone together in their room at the spa resort when they have their weekend together...I am hoping we get to see another kiss between them now that they have admitted to each other that they do love each other!!! I just can't get enough of Otalia!!

    They are getting my vote. They have the hottest/sweetist kiss, full of passion.

     

    Although I'm an Otalia fan, I think their kiss was too one-sided to deserve the award, really. Their first PROPER kiss, though...that might kill people.

    Totally with you on this one. I'm an Otalian and I love Naomily. 
    The two kisses don't compare; Naomily's was mutual and steamy, Otalia's was one sided and played for a point rather than passion or sweetness. And yes, I'm prepared for that first mutual passionate kiss to kill me ded.  


    Naomily gets my vote all the way for this topic and these options.

     I love all the fictional couples, don't get me wrong, but it's so good to see this in real life without some huge scandal. 

     Edit: I just realized the irony of voting for the only real-life couple when my picture is of a fictional couple kissing.  Ha.

    my fellow Buffy fan you are not the only one who voted for Ellen and Portia. I love the L Word but hated the last season so I couldn't give the vote to them, and I hadn't seen anything of the rest. How can you not vote for the real kiss? Plus I love me some Portia.

    I totally get what you are saying because I voted for Portia and Ellen for that same reason.  Their kiss holds soo much more significance because it was real life and they weren't afraid or ashamed to do it.  I find that to be the best. 

    While I am a die-hard Otalia fanatic I wouldn't vote for that kiss as the best because it wasn't romantic at all....the context of the kiss was all wrong.  Now that they have acknowledged their feelings for each other, their REAL first kiss will be something special and magical.

    Tibette because they are HOT HOT HOT and what kept me coming back to the L Word for six long, painful years.  I couldn't NOT vote for them.

    Even still, Ellen and Portia have to be the true winners.  They are loving, beautiful, and so dang girls next doorish, despite their fame and fortune, that one can't help but adore them.  Their positive loving visibility makes it a better world for all of us.  Reality must trump fantasy.

    wow that was hard... i couldn't decide between naomily and otalia but in the end have to go with Olivia's and Nat's kiss. Their story is just so overwhelming...
